Day 7 Windermere

And the day dawned persisting it down - but then cleared up
As good a day as any to run a marathon!

I definitely left my legs on Langdale. It's a pattern that's developing. Langdale is so difficult I psyche myself up for it, expend too much energy, then find Windermere difficult.

For the first time various leg parts are aching and a bit sore. But  I've been working on them all afternoon - and now the gorgeous Mrs Challenge 30 has arrived and she can work on them tonight!

The rain was so heavy at the start I wore my waterproof. After 4 miles I needed to take it off again and carry it the rest of the way. I was beginning to feel like a fat bloke in a sweat suit.

I was minding my own  business, in a world of my own, when at Lakeside a marathon running legend appeared - Mr  Steve Edwards. Steve is the best marathon runner - ever! Over 500 sub 3.30 marathons. So I ran a very quick 2 miles with him. And of course wherever there is a Steve Edwards there is a Teresa Edwards - Team Edwards. Lovely to see you both and so much appreciated. That little invigorating burst gave me my 4:51 and allowed me some respite in the second half too.

I've discovered that a fizzy drink is genuinely helping me with the energy levels. I had to buy my own today - what is the world coming to? A bit of rain and most of your support disappears!!

I'll finish as always with some stats. Before I do the most important stat is I'm now way past £30,000!! Gina brought a fistful of cheques up and I will reply to everyone after I've finished. Your generosity to Brathay is wonderful and will help us to give so many more young people new opportunities in life.
