As good a day as any to run a marathon!
I felt apprehensive this morning and a bit down on energy. Everything was a bit sore as I set off and then I got quite hot. It was terribly humid with no breeze at all.
I decided on recovery run tactics - short stride, soft steps, run well within myself.
Of course it's slower but I resigned myself to that - there will be plenty worse days.
Left calf, right hip niggles and discomfort came - and also went. Admittedly after a couple of hours but they did go! Sooner or later your body seems to get the message that you're not stopping!
After a slow first half, bizarrely I got going quite well on the most difficult third quarter of the course. The ever reliable Jim was on hand to provide me with a cup of tea in Bowness - and I got home in 4:47. Again delighted with that and there will be many worse days!
Thanks to Jim who has supported so wonderfully over the first 3 days.
And all best wishes and thanks to Susan & Arthur for sponsoring today - I did my very best for you!! And rescued a slow first half with a really pleasing second half - you inspired me and Brathay!

And of course a photo - my own natural ice bath! Taken at the Brathay Boat House ....
