As good a day as any to run a marathon!
Today was the Great Langdale Marathon. I was very apprehensive as I am now battling various niggles - and I didn't want today of all days, when all the running community and many friends had gathered, to be the day the wheels finally fell off.
And the great news is that they didn't - in fact the day and so many well-wishers pushed me to a 4.40.
So today's blog is going to be a list of as many names as I can remember - starting with:
Gill and Nick Cox - I was running for Gill's Dad - Brian Morgan
Broni, Mick & Adelka all the way from Sheffield, Jim Meta, Mac Knowles - support cyclist supreme, Paul Dewar, Sam Tucker and her Dad Peter who both ran with me and have supported me wonderfully, Steve Edwards the legend running his 600th marathon today and his ever lovely wife Teresa, Paul & Sue Adams, Mark Sleaman, Gabby Lee, Andy Nice, Tony Hooper, Malcolm Collins, Phil Eccleston, Shane Cliffe, Charles Colby with a hug from Toks, Joss Naylor - King of the Fells, Rose Tranter & Anna Towers - both of whom I've known forever and I couldn't believe you turned out to see me, Julie Stewart & Harriet (lovely!) Randall all the way from Hoylandswaine. and many others who wished me well as they stormed past!
And of course the inimitable Rod Berry - organiser of this marvellous event - and many others. You've been great Rod thanks.
Please forgive any omissions - I'm old & tired!
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR A GREAT DAY. I'm very honoured.
