As good a day as any to run a marathon!
So day 10 was a bit of a watershed. 10in10 - but no lap of honour. Just tea and cake at the ODG with the lovely Jim and Diane of 10in10 fame.
A 4.59 was another good time on Langdale but I ran out of gas for the first time today and had to fight. So more tired than usual.
So - state of play on a day when fractions rule. 1/3 of the way in!
Firstly my times have far exceeded my own expectations as well as most of yours!! I had in mind between 5 and 6 for Windermere and 6 and 7 for Langdale. These are both tough courses and I am carrying everything with no physio. That my body has let me keep running these times (48 hrs 34 mins for 10) has surprised me.
I put in some serious and targeted training, very much of my own design, and formed from my own 10in10 experience and from that of watching others. It must have worked!
Muscles - by and large fine and still supple. Very little stiffness.
Joints - a bit of strain on right ankle. And some knee instability. Occasional hip soreness. But still nothing major.
Head - it isn't easy maintaining the routine. The mornings are worst - I'm still apprehensive and nervous. This is mentally very difficult. Until I start and then I'm okay. Even when the going is hard I'm okay on the road and know how far I can push.
Day 11 is just another day. Of course I've now proved I can run a marathon or two so I'm walking the next 10!
Here are some stats - and 2 photos courtesy of Jim. I do like a before and after - don't you??
