Crises and Heroes

Sorry no post for a while - a bit of a family crisis intervened and rather distracted me from the matter in hand. Nothing tragic, nothing insurmountable but just enough to mean I had to focus elsewhere.

Anyhow I'm now at Brathay for the final 4 days of the 2013 10 marathons in 10 days challenge. And all this year's athletes are doing superbly. So consistent, so focused and taking all the pain and hurt in their stride. They are truly inspirational and are raising huge amounts of money for vulnerable young people and the work of Brathay which is great.

These heroes all have also frightened me a bit. I'm seeing their pain, I'm seeing the immense will they need to get through each day. It's reminding me of what it felt like back in 2010 - and focusing me very much on just how unimaginely daunting is the prospect of running 30 times on very tough courses without a break.

I've still got a lot to do both physically and mentally to prepare.

So many thanks for all the sponsorship which is beginning to roll in. You are all so kind and everyone at Brathay is immensely grateful. We are able to give new chances and beginnings in life to so many young people.
